Sometimes I think I’m quite a morbid person. I like skulls and imagery to do with death and generally anything dark. I wonder how I got like this and if maybe there is something a bit weird about me. Maybe there is. But every time a celebrity dies, I realise everyone else in the world is just as interested as I am in death. My Facebook feed is currently full of status’ about the death of a woman they have never met and who had no real impact on their lives, but everyone is either showing their respect, pointing out how little they care about it or cracking jokes. It’s the latter one that interests me. People die all the time and it’s always seen as a tragedy. So why is it okay to make jokes about someone’s death just because they were in the public eye? They don’t offend me, I just find it interesting how many people’s first reaction to the death of someone is to think up a clever pun. It just proves to me that I’m not the only morbid one!
